Recently, at the billet lifting operation site in the Dongjiakou Port Area, the Dong Branch of Qingdao Port, Shandong Port has officially implemented a new 'Knuckle Boom Crane + Lifting Electromagnet' technology. This innovative solution, developed in collaboration with Hunan Zhongke Electric, marks a significant advancement in operational efficiency and safety.
Previously, billet lifting operations relied on a traditional method involving cranes and at least three workers who engaged in tasks such as turning around, threading hooks, and attaching and detaching them. This method posed numerous safety hazards due to the frequent and close cooperation required between humans and machines.
To address these issues, technical engineer Song Ping led a research group in collaboration with Hunan Zhongke Electric. They innovatively combined mobile crane load with a lifting electromagnet, resulting in the 'Knuckle Boom Crane + Lifting Electromagnet' technology. This breakthrough allows a single articulated crane operator to complete the entire lifting process without needing additional workers.

Convenience and Efficiency
The strong electromagnetic force of the knuckle boom crane's lifter attracts the billets directly, eliminating the need for the previous cumbersome steps. This streamlines the operation, significantly increasing efficiency.
Safety and Stability
The system incorporates video monitoring and wireless transmission technologies, enabling the operator to view operational blind spots clearly from the cab. This enhances safety by reducing the risk of accidents, achieving intrinsic safety in billet lifting operations.
Energy Saving and Cost Reduction
The new technology results in substantial cost savings, including approximately 450,000 yuan in annual labor costs, 80,000 yuan in material costs, and 70,000 yuan in fuel costs. Additionally, operational efficiency has doubled, with the capability to handle 160 tons per hour compared to the previous 80 tons per hour.
Looking forward, Qingdao Port aims to leverage this technological innovation to drive industry development and enhance high-quality growth. By continuing to pursue industrial upgrades and innovative breakthroughs, the port aspires to contribute significantly to the "Three Major Constructions" of Shandong Port.
This new 'Knuckle Boom Crane + Lifting Electromagnet' technology exemplifies a significant leap forward in ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations in the port industry.
