Multi-mode Mold EMS

It can effectively control the fluctuation of molten steel of different steel grades and specifications in the mold, so as to improve the quality of the continuous casting of slab, decrease the velocity, reduce the impact on the narrow side of the slab, facilitate the floating of inclusions and reduce the subcutaneous inclusions (slag) and other defects; Meanwhile, it can appropriately increase the continuous casting speed, increase the output and excellent economic benefits.
 

The Versatile Usage Of The Stirrer

The characteristic of the multi-function electromagnetic stirring technology of the mold is to control the flow in the mold, especially near the meniscus, by selecting and adjusting the direction and magnitude of the horizontal electromagnetic force applied to the flow stream from the SEN, depending on the different casting conditions.

 At high casting speed, the purpose is to brake the flow and reduce the flow speed near the meniscus to avoid instability or fluctuation of the meniscus;

When the casting speed is low, the purpose is to accelerate the flow, improve the flow speed near the meniscus, so that the superheated steel will transfer heat to the meniscus; At the same time, it also improves the cleaning effect of the solidification front.

Adjust the flow of molten steel when the casting speed changes during the abnormal casting period such as the beginning and end of casting and the ladle exchange period.
 
It can be seen that under different casting conditions, the flow in the mold, especially the flow near the meniscus, can be controlled in an optimal range by means of the multi-functional electromagnetic stirring device of the mold, so that the content of inclusions on the surface and under the skin of the casting slab can be greatly reduced.

 Reduced pinhole defects: With MM-EMS, the pinhole density index of the slab was drastically reduced from 1.0 to 0.05 when MM-EMS was not used.

  Reduced inclusions: in the subsurface area of the slab (within 10mm from the surface) not only inclusions are significantly reduced, and there are no large inclusions of more than 100um; even for the tailing part or rejoining part and other parts of the slab easy to gather inclusions, but also to achieve a stable casting part of the cleaner level.
 Reduced surface longitudinal cracks: Due to the uneven temperature of the casting strand in the width direction in the mold and the uneven thickness of the initial shell, the surface of the slab is prone to longitudinal cracking, especially for the low-C steel with C content of 0.10% to 1%. The use of MM-EMS evened out the temperature field of the meniscus part, reduced the delayed solidification part, and evened out the thickness of the shell, so that the longitudinal cracking index of the slab surface was reduced to 1/4 of the original.

  Stabilized continuous casting operation: By using MM-EMS, the frequency index of abnormal signals on the surface of the mold with alarm breakout was reduced to 1/9 to 1/10 of the original (without MM-EMS), thus realizing stable continuous casting operation. This is due to the fact that the steel flow through the solidified shell interface at this time stabilizes the initial solidification state of the casting strand, diminishing the harmful effects of the bias flow from the nozzle.

 Improved steel quality: in order to meet the automotive outer plate steel on lightweight (both thin and high strength), streamlined design (excellent workability) requirements, the use of MM-EMS can efficiently produce a clean surface, less defective slab; pre-roll flame cleaning amount to reduce 40%, the surface crack failure rate reduced by 50%; shorten the length of the slab cut at tail to improve the rate of slab.

Yes, the mold water tank needs to be modified, adapting to the installation of multi-mode electromagnetic stirrer; the copper plate thickness of the mold needs to be modified, conductivity reaches 50 ± 5%, etc; please contact us for more details.

What is the warranty period of multi-mode mold electromagnetic stirrer?

The warranty period of the complete set of EMS system is 12 months from the commissioning date or 18 months from the B/L date, whichever comes first.

Who is responsible for installation and commissioning?

The EMS system equipment will be installed by Buyer. Zhongke Electric is responsible for the guidance and supervision of installation.
